A pioneer of our Financial Lines business in Asia, Shasi has over 32 years of experience in Financial Lines insurance underwriting. He’s also taken on various senior management roles across Asia Pacific and the Middle East markets.

A lawyer by training, Shasi indulges his passion for music by DJing as a hobby.

Aaron has over 28 years of insurance and underwriting experience working in Asia, having been based out of Malaysia, Shanghai and Hong Kong. As a Singaporean he is glad to be based in the city where he leads our operations. He has held roles as a broker, Financial Lines Regional Manager in South East Asia and North Asia, senior leadership positions, including establishing the Hong Kong operations of Berkley Insurance Asia. He is a graduate of the University of Bristol, UK.

Aaron currently lives in Tiong Bahru, Singapore. As a kid, he had fallen in love with the area’s food scene after many trips to the local market with his grandmother.

Monique has over 23 years of financial reporting and control experience in the financial services industry, having worked in The Netherlands, United Kingdom and Singapore. She holds a Master of Science degree in Economics and is a member of the Royal Netherlands Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Steven has over 30 years of experience working as an insurance lawyer, most of which has been spent as a partner in international law firms across the Asia-Pacific. His experience covers all types of commercial insurance and reinsurance, regulation and claims. Steven has recently held the position of Semester Professor in Bond University’s Law Faculty, teaching information security governance and cyber risk to postgraduate students studying a Master of Laws in Enterprise Governance. He continues to edit the insurance chapter in Chitty on Contracts: Hong Kong Specific Contracts, a position he has held since 2004.

Engineer by Training (VTU India). Business analyst by passion. Srila has spent 12 years in IT; designing, developing and supporting software products for Insurance and other industries.

Heidi leads our Cyber practice across Asia in addition to Strategic Relationships in China.

She has over 18 years of senior underwriting and management experience for direct and reinsurance business with a background in Financial Lines and Commercial Insurance underwriting. She holds a Master’s Degree in Economics from the Renmin University of China.

A homegrown Shanghainese, Heidi has witnessed Shanghai’s development into one of the world’s most dynamic and cosmopolitan cities. She believes insurance now plays an even more important role in China’s economic and social development.

Roden leads our Hong Kong operations with over 15 years of experience in Financial Lines and Specialty Claims across the Asian region. During his early years in private legal practice, he acted mainly for insurers on insurance-related litigation and disputes resolution. He is a practicing solicitor and the Vice President of the Law Society of Hong Kong, SAR.

Esther heads all Commercial Lines for Berkley Insurance Asia - Greater China, which includes Financial Lines and Casualty. She has over 18 years of industry experience as an underwriter and broker and has deep relationships and expertise in the market. As a founding member of Berkley Insurance Asia, Esther has developed a strong portfolio and underwriting talent in Hong Kong.

Omi is a highly accomplished professional with an impressive track record of over 20 years in the retail and reinsurance markets across Asia. Throughout her extensive career, Omi has demonstrated expertise in a wide range of insurance areas, notably Combined General & Products Liability, Global Programs, Excess/Umbrella Liability, ME&O (Manufacturing Errors and Omissions), Recall, and specialty industry segments such as technology, life sciences, clean tech, and advanced manufacturing.

Omi obtained her Bachelor of Business degree from Queensland University of Technology, Australia. This academic background, combined with her extensive practical experience, has equipped her with a robust skill set grounded in business principles, financial acumen, and analytical thinking. Her ability to leverage this knowledge has allowed her to deliver tailored insurance solutions that align with clients' objectives and risk profiles.

A pioneering member of our Hong Kong team, Felix has over five years experience in both Financial Lines and Casualty Lines. He majored in industrial engineering at Northeastern University and graduated with a Bachelor of Business Management from the University of Phoenix.

Fluent in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin, Felix enjoys reading Chinese novels during his free time. A Hong Kong native, he firmly believes in the vibrant diversity and opportunities in the local market.

Derek has over five years of experience in Financial Lines underwriting and specializes in management liability products. He graduated from the University of Buckingham with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management.

Alex has close to 30 years of Marine underwriting and broking experience. He holds various professional designations including Fellow of ANZII and Associate of AII. He has in the past also served as a committee member in the Hong Kong Marine Insurance Association under HKIA. 

Tony is a highly experienced insurance professional with over a decade of expertise in the field. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated a strong focus on casualty and financial lines claims, showcasing his in-depth knowledge and understanding of these specialised products.

Tony holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Finance, complemented by a Bachelor of Law degree, which provides him with a unique blend of analytical skills and legal acumen. This academic background equips him with a comprehensive understanding of the intricate financial and legal aspects of the insurance industry.

Tony's professional journey encompasses working as a claims handler in both an international broker firm and an insurance company. These roles have exposed him to diverse and challenging environments, allowing him to develop a versatile skill set and a keen ability to adapt to various industry landscapes.

With a proven track record of serving clients from both local and international backgrounds, Tony has gained extensive experience across a wide range of sectors. Notably, he has successfully catered to the insurance needs of clients in the educational, healthcare, and financial sectors, among others. This exposure has enhanced his ability to navigate the unique challenges and nuances that arise within each industry, enabling him to provide tailored and effective insurance solutions to clients.

Ju-Ann has over 20 years of Marine underwriting experience in Asia, covering direct and reinsurance markets. She is a Chartered Insurer of the Chartered Insurance Institute; graduating from Nanyang Technological University with a Bachelor of Business with Honours in Insurance.

She enjoys new experiences such as traveling to explore places and trying different cuisines. She loves the outdoors and keeps her energy high by cycling, running and taking long nature walks.

Keng Seng has over 33 years experience in insurance. Having worked in the retail and wholesale insurance/reinsurance space, he has a deep appreciation of the angst and joys of customer service.

Having worked as a lecturer before, Keng Seng now takes time outside of work to conduct courses at institutions and forums. He finds it very fulfilling to take a step back from business and engage in the simpler joys of talent building and knowledge sharing.

Hans has over 25 years experience in the maritime and marine insurance field. His area of expertise focuses on Cargo, Project Cargo and Marine Liability, as well as Fine Art risks. Hans is passionate about the marine industry and frequently speaks at market seminars held in the Korean Marine market place as a key note speaker for specialty Marine underwriting subjects. He holds degrees in LL.B LL.M. in Shipping from Korea Maritime & Ocean University.

On his free time Hans enjoys trail running and vertical marathon in Seoul and Singapore.

Ping Ping has over 20 years of experience as a broker, claims handler and underwriter in the Marine classes. She is experienced in both direct and reinsurance, focusing on Singapore and other Southeast Asian markets. She graduated from the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore with a major in Insurance.

Describing her home country as “Uniquely Singapore”, the one thing Ping Ping misses most when away from home is the hawker culture.

Christine has over 30 years of experience in direct insurance, reinsurance and portfolio management. For the past 10 years, she has been specialising in Specie, including Fine Art, Jewellers Block and General Specie. She is responsible for developing Specie opportunities in Asia including India and the Middle East.

When she’s not painting or creating small figurines, Christine enjoys sharing hearty meals with friends.

Ernest joined Berkley after several years in the graduate programme and Financial Lines division of a multinational insurance brokerage. He graduated from Singapore Management University’s School of Economics and holds an Advanced Diploma in Insurance (ACII) from The Chartered Insurance Institute, UK.

On weekends, he is usually hunting down good local hawker fare and catching up with friends and family at the mahjong table.

Noel has over 20 years of industry experience working in Financial Lines underwriting, distribution management and senior management roles. He holds an MBA from the University of Chicago.

Kimberly has over 6 years of insurance experience in Financial Lines underwriting. She graduated from University of London with a degree in Economics and Finance. She loves watching wildlife and enjoys a good game of badminton.

Hank has been in the insurance industry since 2015, with experience across diverse functions such as underwriting, product management and business operations. He is a graduate of Nanyang Technological University, Singapore and holds an Advanced Diploma in Insurance (ACII) from the Chartered Insurance Institute.
Hank is one half of a pair of twin brothers. Contrary to popular belief, the twins do not switch places with each other at work.

With 10 years navigating the ever-changing landscapes of insurance and banking, Samantha is a passionate professional keeping her finger on the pulse of industry trends. When she is not conquering new peaks (literally - an avid hiker!), she is seeking out delicious culinary experiences, both at home and abroad. A lifelong learner, Samantha approaches life with contagious enthusiasm.

She is always happy to lend a hand and connect with others who share the same zest for life!

Jasmine has over 15 years of experience in the insurance industry. She started her career as a retail broker before specialising in Casualty underwriting across Singapore and Southeast Asian markets on both direct insurance and reinsurance. She holds a Bachelor degree in Business from University of London.

Outside work, Jasmine has a penchant for inspirational books, travels and body combat exercises as nothing feels better than a finished workout and rejuvenated mindset!

Adeline has over 30 years of technical and claims management experience in the industry. She holds an Associateship of the Chartered Insurance Institute, along with a Bachelor in Law through the University of London.

Adeline loves travelling for the amazing experiences, cultures and food she gets to appreciate and enjoy. She recently started a regular fitness routine doing moderate to high intensity interval training at home.

Nicole has over 20 years of experience in claims management. She is passionate about building customer-centric, agile and innovative claims solutions and is inspired to do better each day. She is a graduate of the Nanyang Technological University majoring in insurance and a Chartered Insurer of the Chartered Insurance Institute.

When her day is done, Nicole’s go-to leisure activities are gardening, yoga and badminton.

Leo heads Berkley’s Tokyo Representative office, BIA Japan Services. During his 25 years in the Property and Casualty industry, he has held roles in key sales, underwriting, country and regional management. Leo is a graduate of Occidental College in the US, and member of the Japan Association of Corporate Directors.

An avid traveler, Leo believes learning is a lifelong journey, and “experience” is one of life’s best teachers.

With over 40 years of experience in the Japanese insurance industry, Yoshimasa has held many senior roles in sales, underwriting and branch management.

He is a graduate of Aoyama Gakuin University and an avid golfer.

Owen has over ten years of experience in the Casualty market taking on underwriting and broking roles in Shanghai and Beijing. He holds various professional designations including ACII, RPLU+ and CPCU. He is a graduate of the Maurice R. Greenberg School of Risk Management, Insurance and Actuarial Science at St. John's University in New York.

When he has time to spare, Owen enjoys taking road trips and hiking with family and friends.

Jack has over 8 years of experience as a Casualty and Life Sciences Underwriter and specialises in complex liability programmes with various partners. He has a bachelor's degree in pharmacy from the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Ian has over ten years of P&C claim experience, he worked in broking firm and one of the top P&C insurance companies in China before joining Berkley. Ian has a bachelor’s degree in automotive application from Shanghai University.

Ivy joined us as a fresh graduate in 2019. She has fast proven herself to be an essential asset to our Shanghai team. Ivy has a Bachelor’s Degree of Finance from Shanghai Lixin University of Accounting and Finance.

Celia has over ten years of experience in insurance industry and has over 7 years P&C claim experience. She worked in a top foreign broker firm and domestic P&C insurance company in China before joining Berkley. Celia has a bachelor’s degree in Law from Shanghai Maritime University and holds a designation of CPCU.
